From Kalabash to Preminger Studios.
After 10 awesome years of Kalabash with Natasha as the sole proprietress, we are delighted to welcome the Preis family as the new owners of our school. And under this new ownership comes a new name!
Why Preminger?
Well as this is a family business, it needed a family name to honor the legacy of music passed down through the generations. Jean Preminger, Wayne's mother and grandmother to Shyah, Wesley and Aurora, is the woman they wish to honor. It is her memory, and the memory of her sister Claire, who passed on her love of music and art and poetry that the school now takes the name of.
It's a beautiful thing to see a family take over. And not just any family...but a local family of artists and musicians. In fact, Shyah and Wesley started as students here at Kalabash, and then became teachers. And as they take the wheel...they are not alone.
Their father Wayne, is not only a rocking guitarist, but builds and repairs them as well and is the owner of WebStrings, a guitar string company that he founded in 1997. Their mother Pearl is an artist, photographer and teacher and their sister Aurora is a student at UCSD
